Physique is the oldest form of character mesh binding and is optimised for use with biped, as it is much more simple. Physique is often used for characters that are going to be imported into game engines, as it is much less resource intensive than skin and is optimised for use with humanoid forms. The process is similar to that of the skin modifier’s initially setup phase, except that it is more based on envelopes for control over vertexes.
