FFD x x x - (Free Form Deformation Lattice)

Back to modifier list

The free-form deformation modifier allows you to manipulate a 3D shape using a control lattice. The lattice can be altered by moving the control points. This then affects the shape. It is particularly useful when you want to adjust a very dense mesh, where selecting many vertices or faces will take a long time.

There are three preset FFD modifiers you can use, 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4. There are also two freestyle deformation modifiers you can use where you specify the number of control points etc.

Set volume allows you to change the "start" lattice. A lattice that is many times greater than the size of the object will cause less deformation when you move control vertices.
